Antonescu: The wish to have a new president is not an emergency of mine

National Liberal Party (PNL) President Crin Antonescu on Tuesday evening said that for him, as a presidential runner on the ticket of the Social Liberal Union (USL), removing Traian Basescu from Cotroceni Palace is not an “emergency”, as governing and winning this year’s elections are the top priority.  Antonescu told Realitatea TV that the Union “battle”, for now is governing and the local elections June 10.”As we speak, our chief concern does not include concrete steps towards suspension, which means parliamentary procedure,” Antonescu also said.”You talk about PNL’s desire to suspend Traian Basescu. No! This desire is shared by the PNL, the Social-Democratic Party (PSD), and the Conservative Party (PC), I guarantee you that. Obviously, it has been said this would be an emergency of mine, as potential candidate of the USL. This isn’t so. To me, the emergency is similar to that of the others, which is to carry out governing, hold legislative elections this autumn, have a consolidated  parliamentary majority and  implement the program (…) Neither myself, nor the PNL is obsessed with removing Traian Basescu, as this wish, as  Victor Ponta said, is just as strong for the others as well, Antonescu said.
