Successive quakes in Vrancea

An earthquake with the magnitude of 2.4 on the Richter scale occurred yesterday morning, at 6.51, in the Vrancea region, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics, quoted by jurnalul.ro. The epicenter was located at a depth of 91 km, close to the localities of Nistoresti, Paulesti, Nereju, Tulnici and Andreiasu de Jos. Six tremors were reported in Romania this week. Three occurred Monday – one near the border with Moldova, with a magnitude of 2.1, and two in the Vrancea region, with respective magnitudes of 3 and 2.9 – followed by two quakes Tuesday – Vrancea (2.8) and Transylvania (2.2) – and another one Wednesday, in Vrancea (3.3 Richter).
