155,000 pupils take the Baccalaureate this year

The first session of the Baccalaureate examination continued yesterday with day 2 of communication proficiency in Romanian Language and Literature, according to the schedule set by the Ministry of Education. Nearly 77 pc of the high school graduates of 2011 and 2012 registered in the first session of this June-July Baccalaureate examination, Education Minister Liviu Pop told a press conference Monday. Of the overall 155,000 candidates, 154,367 are from this year’s class, and 44,905 from last year’s. Of those who finished high school this year, 34,764 did not register for the exam, and from last year’s, 27,174, the education minister said, who mentioned that test A testing linguistic competence in Romanian Language and Literature is expected to be taken by 155,955 candidates at 1,406 units. Roughly 3,000 police and 1,500 gendarmes will provide security measures during the oral test in Romanian Language and Literature. Eight candidates were eliminated on day 1 from the Romanian Language and Literature test of the Baccalaureate 2012, due to ‘”fraud attempts”, according to the Education Ministry. Three candidates were caught with mobile phones on them, despite the exam regulations banning the phones from examination rooms.
