Gov’t will issue 30,000 additional ‘cash-for-clunkers’ vouchers

Environment Minister Rovana Plumb yesterday announced that the number of vouchers in the ‘cash-for clunkers’ scheme will be supplemented by 15,000 by the end of June, and by another 15,000 after the budget rectification, with the decision being made in order to keep the existing jobs, Mediafax reports. The minister added that the first 15,000 vouchers have a total value of RON 57 M. As for the financing source, the minister explained that an analysis has been made which led to the conclusion that the money can be transferred from other sources, like the Environment Fund Administration. Authorities decided to suspend the financing of parks in rural areas, for some time. According to Rovana Plumb, electric and hybrid cars will be maintained as a distinct chapter in the ‘cash-for-clunkers’ scheme.
