Croitoru: Government must stimulate competition in the entire economy

The policies promoted by the government must stimulate the competition in the segment of large companies, as well as among small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), rather than measures aimed only at SMEs that bring volatility in their economic activity, Lucian Croitoru, advisor to the Governor of BNR said during the launching event of the report named ‘The contribution of SMEs to economic growth,’ devised for the National Prognosis Commission (CNP), Mediafax reports. According to Croitoru, only exporting companies are competitive, because they are already exposed to competition in the markets where they are active. The report, launched by CNP, shows that public policies and fiscal measures encouraged the appearance of new firms, instead of consolidating and developing the existing ones. The authors of the document recommend authorities to support the firms that have growth potential on a medium term and consider as illogical the existence of incentives aimed at keeping firms from developing (such as the incentives granted in the past to micro-enterprises), along with incentives for the growth of companies.
