Patriarchy claims might close several schools in Bucharest

A list of schools whose buildings are claimed by the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) including the ‘Dinu Lipatti’ High School, the ‘Iovan Ducici’ Primary School and the ‘Floreasca’ Kindergarten in Bucharest, a communiqué quoted by Antena 3 informs. “George Baescu, President of the National Authority for the Restitution of Properties (ANRP), and ANRP Vice President Ioan Nasleu, met a delegation of representatives from the Chancellery of the Romanian Patriarchy’s Holy Synod on Tuesday. Patriarchy representatives expressed their desire to continue the good collaboration they had with ANRP and their hope that the new leadership will come up with solutions in order to solve the problems that appeared in the dialogue that BOR has with local authorities,” an ANRP communiqué shows.  “At the same time, it was underlined that the draft law proposed by former Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu would affect the Romanian Orthodox Church if the process of restitution and compensation results in the introduction of a 15 per cent ceiling on rights,” ANRP informs.
