The emergency ordinance approved by the government on Thursday, an ordinance that ensures the stability of the banking system, will be debated in the Senate during an extraordinary session in August, Senate Quaestor Dan Radu Rusanu stated on Friday, Mediafax informs. PNL’s representative within the Permanent Bureau also pointed out that the ordinance refers to the creation of a “bridge-bank,” namely it offers to the National Bank the possibility to take over, through this bridge-bank, a foreign or Romanian bank that is in trouble. Rusanu also announced that the ordinance will be discussed within the budget-finance commission on August 28 and the final vote will be cast during the extraordinary session scheduled on August 29-31. The stipulation was introduced by the government as a consequence of its latest negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
