Public institutions and state companies spent during 2009 – May 31, 2012, the term in office of the former government, more than RON 150 M on legal services provided by law firms. The biggest spenders are Loteria Romana, Electrica, Hidroelectrica and the Credit Asset Resolution Authority (AVAS), Mediafax reports. The conclusion is drawn from a report by the Oversight Body of the Prime Minister on legal assistance, counselling and representation contracts agreed by public entities and law firms. Other state companies that spent big on such contracts include the National Company of Motorways and National Roads in Romania (RON 5.9 M), National Mint Authority (RON 5.5 M), Metrorex (RON 5.2 M), Tarom (RON 4.9 M), the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (RON 4.8 M), Nuclearelectrica (RON 4.3 M), Oltchim (RON 4.1 M), Bucharest Airports National Company (RON 2.9 M), Electrica Serv (RON 2.6 M) and more.
