Gazprom formally starts takeover of Romania-based petrol stations

The Competition Council (CC) analyses an operation in which Nis Petrol SRL will take over three petrol stations in the counties of Arad (one) and Sibiu (two), CC informs, quoted by HotNews.ro. Nis Petrol is controlled by Serbian oil and gas company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), a member of Russian group Gazprom. “The competition authority will evaluate the operation of economic concentration with respect to its compatibility with the Regulation of economic concentrations,” reads the communiqué. The announcement formalises the rumours about Gazprom planning to enter the Romanian fuel market, via its subsidiary NIS.
