Full Moon – Horror and Fantasy Film Festival

The first edition of the “Full Moon” festival will take place on August 16-19, 2012, in Biertan, Sibiu County, being the sole event in Romania centred exclusively on horror and fantasy films. Organized by the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Films and presented by the Transylvania International Film Festival, “Full Moon” offers to the public the best horror and fantasy productions, classic and modern alike, films that either became or are about to become benchmarks of the genre. The films can be viewed in two outdoor and two indoor cinemas. Apart from traditional boarding houses in the area (Biertan is one of the first German settlements in Transylvania, dating from 1283, and is located in a hilly area just 25 kilometers away from Sighisoara and Medias – editor’s note), movie fans have a modern camping at their disposal, as well as an “HQ” located in the city’s Grand Square where they will discover a fair featuring traditional dishes and hand-made products, and where concerts will take place every evening. A project financed completely independently, “Full Moon” – the Horror & Fantasy Film Festival wants to become a member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF) and thus to put Romania on the European map for this kind of events. The EFFFF is supported by the European Union’s MEDIA programme and its purpose is to promote the originality and creativity of European fantasy and horror films.
