Scania-Young European Truck Driver in Romania, an investment worth EUR 70.000

The most important world competition among drivers has reached Romania first time through Scania Romania and other partners, an event that gathered over 1,000 long haul drivers from Romania. They raced in participating in Scania – Young European Truck Driver competition, the final part having taken place on Saturday on the IFPTR race track near Targu Mures. « Scania has always placed the driver on the top position. Through this event, we are celebrating their abilities as drivers and their importance for the society in general », according to Tord Holmstrom,  Managing Director Scania Black Sea Unit. In his turn, Mihai Pasol, Marketing & PR Manager Scania Romania SRL, said that close to EUR 70.000 were invested in this competition in Romania since March 1, together with the sponsors.Following a tight fight, the winner of the final, Mihai Turdean, a young man aged 21 only, who have been driving a truck only for two weeks, will represent Romania in Sweden on September 9, together with other representatives from Europe. They will compete for the big prize – a fully equipped long haul truck, offered by Scania. Turdean also received, apart from the ticket to the grand final in Sweden a trip to Hungary for two persons and other prizes from the sponsors Mol Romania, Michelin, along with a new job on a new Scania truck, offered by Gigi Vlase from Slobozia, the owner of an automotive fleet of 350 long haul trucks.The competition “Young European Truck Driver” is sponsored by Michelin and supported both by the International Union of Road Carriers and by the European Commission in all countries.
