The Freedom Jazz Festival kicks off today at Vama Veche, which provides the public with the opportunity to meet with some major Romanian musicians – Marius Mihalache, Raul Kusak, Adrian Naidin and Mike Godoroja – as well as stars of international jazz.The organizers, the Bravo Foundation, announced that the event will run July 19 – 21 at the Marina Park Complex located at the entry to the Vama Veche holiday resort, on a 15,000 sq m piece of land. “I like Romania!” by Marius Mihalache, the festival’s artistic director, too, one of the most important Romanian projects featured at the Freedom Jazz, will have Razvan Mazilu as a special guest, who will perform a choreographic moment. “I look forward to meeting the Vama Veche public, who always gave me a special vibe. Actually, as I said before, the Vama Veche public was the reason for this place being chosen as the venue for the first edition of the Freedom Jazz Festival, as they deserve such top art event,” Mediafax quoted Marius Mihalache as saying. Pianist Raul Kusak and cellist Adrian Naidin will perform “Songs in a circle”, a world jazz revelation. Among the international jazz starts to play at the event, Panama-born American percussionist Billy Cobham, American Boo Boo Davis, Dutch Johnny & Mozes Rosenberg and the band of Brazilian musician Sergio Mendez, an Oscar nominee for the song “Real in Rio”, from the “Rio” soundtrack.
