Over 5,000 persons take part in anti-Basescu rally in Brasov

More than 5,000 persons gathered on Tuesday evening in Brasov’s Sfatului Square, taking part in a USL rally in support of Traian Basescu’s impeachment. The rally started with a concert given by Ducu Bertzi. At the end of the concert the artist made a mistake and asked the protesters to vote “no” at the referendum, Mediafax informs. The USL rally started at 6 PM, being attended by hundreds of persons from neighboring counties, particularly from Sibiu, Harghita and Covasna. Some of the participants wore white t-shirts with the message “YES, Basescu, hundreds and thousands of Romanians are telling you to go away,” “YES, may we live well, but without you.” Likewise, they carried banners and flags reading “Down with Basescu,” “Yes for impeachment,” “MPs save Romania,” “He cut your salary, you cut his term,” “He drove doctors away from the country, drive him away too.”
