Sighisoara Medieval Festival kicks off today

The 20th Medieval Festival in Sighisoara gets started, and for three days it sets out to present performances by artist from Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania.

According to the program made public by the Sighisoara City Hall, the event will start today, 16.00 hour, with a Fortress parade, followed by a flag performance by the Order of the ArtGotica Knights from Sibiu and Pro Etnica specific moments of the festival, performed by Magyar, Ukrainian and Bulgarian dance ensembles from Romania. Tomorrow’s program includes medieval and medieval animation shows, as well as the awarding of the Europe Prize 2011 to the municipality of Sighisoara. Also, performances by the Greeks, Rutens, Serb and Croats from Romania. On Sunday, the last day of the festival, there are scheduled animation shows, “the shield bearers; school”, “medieval troubadours’ school”, knight jousting, as well as artistic moments by members of the Magyar, German and Greek communities  in Romania. Among the knight orders to  come to Sighisoara, the  Crux Alba Knight Order from Hungary, Chigot Kight Order, Bulgaria, Medias Knight Order, Wolf Knight Order, Targu Mures and ArtGotica Knight Order, Sibiu. The program also includes medieval music concerts performed by the bands Lupus Dacus, Nomen est Omen, Truverii, No’Mads and the “Wolf King” medieval music show involving members of the Wolf Knight Order from Targu Mures, Lupus Dacus, and of the Timisoara Philharmonic. The Sighisoara Town Council allocated RON 130,000 for this year’s event.
