League I: Steaua 1 – Concordia Chiajna 0

FC Steaua won its home game against Concordia Chiajna on Monday evening, the last game of leg 1, score 1-0 (0-0 at half time). Both teams had a player sent off. Raul Rusescu (photo) scored the game’s only goal in the 50th minute. Tanase’s high ball from the left flank found Rusescu who pushed the ball in the net from 6-7 meters inside the box. Steaua’s Latovlevici was sent off in the 90th minute after he saw the second yellow card. Concordia’s Cretu was sent off in the 93rd minute. There were 15,636 fans in the stands. FC Steaua financier Gigi Becali stated after the game that he will step down unless his team wins the title this season. Nevertheless, he later changed his mind, stating he said that “in the heat of the moment.” “I will only step down when they take me to the St. John cemetery; I stated that in the heat of the moment.” Becali added he was expecting the game to be easier for Steaua and that Robert Dumitru is one of the best referees he always praised but this time he made a mistake. In another game Viitorul Constanta finished its game against FC Brasov in a tie, score 2-2 (1-1 at half time). Rusu (32nd minute) and Cristea (74th minute) scored for Viitorul, while Buga (1st and 48th minutes) scored for FC Brasov. There were approximately 500 fans in the stands.
