Opera Prom returns to Capital on Sept 1

The 6th Opera Prom, an annual event where soloists from or commissioned by the Bucharest National Opera (ONB) sing for Bucharesters the most popular excerpts from operettas and operas on the esplanade of the ONB building, will be held on Sept 1,  21.00 hours, according to the ONB website quoted by  Mediafax. This year’s edition will bring before the audience Iordache Basalic, Adriana Dumitriu, Silvia Sorina Munteanu, Ionut Pascu, as well as conductor Tiberiu Soare. The event is aimed at attracting more viewers by removing the prejudices tied to the lyric genre. The 1st Opera Prom took place on August 25, 2007. Embracing the example of similar event organized by operas in London, Paris, Roma, Vienna, Berlin, Madrid, and Prague – the Bucharest National Opera made this event into a traditional occurrence.
