Chamber music at Prejmer Castle

Prejmer fortified stronghold hosts, as of Sunday, for almost one month, the 14th edition of Diletto Musicale Chamber Music Festival, organized by Prejmer Evangelist Church, German Embassy in Bucharest and Foundation «Siebenburgisch Sachsische Stiftung». In pursuit of last years tradition, the concerts from Prejmer bring a diversified musical offer to the public, which ranges from duo, trio or quartet instrumental parts up to vocal instrumental pieces. The programme includes: Gaudeamus quartet (August 3), JugendBachChor (August 10), Canzonetta (August 17), CODEX Ensemble (August 24) and Cantate Domino (August 31). This series of concerts started in 1999 following the initiative of Steffen Schlandt after a portative organ had been brought to Prejmer (also known as Positiv) which allows Baroc music to be interpreted genuinely. There is free entry at the concerts, with participants having the option to make a voluntary donation for the restoration of organ. At the end of each concert, based on the tradition, the spectators and musicians have the opportunity to exchange impressions around a glass of sour apricot juice or apple juice in the garden of the stronghold.
