Metrorex increases underground tariffs by up to 50 pc

Metrorex increased subway tariffs on Saturday, with the 10-trip card seeing the steepest rise, to RON 15 from RON 10. The prices for two-trip cards and one-day passes remained unchanged at RON 4 lei and 6 respectively. One-week and monthly unlimited travel passes now cost RON 20 and 60 respectively, and the 62-trip monthly pass, RON 50. The cards and passes purchase by Friday can be used until completion or by the deadline mentioned on them. Underground authority Metrorex says the tariff adjustments contribute to the company’s balanced revenue and spending budget for 2012, amid the measures and targets agreed with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Commission.
