Romania’s Sandra Izbasa won the gold medal on Sunday in the vault event of the artistic gymnastics competition. This is Romania’s 8th medal at the London Olympic Games. Sandra Izbasa scored 15.383 points on her first try and 15.000 points on her second try, winning the event with an average of 15.191 points. She was followed by America’s McKayla Maroney (15.083 pts) and Russia’s Maria Paseka (15.050 pts). Canada’s Elisabeth Black scored 0.000 points on her first try as a result of a fall. She suffered an injury and was no longer able to continue. Izbasa previously won bronze in the team event. Here are the remaining individual events Romanian gymnasts will take part in: floor (Catalina Ponor and Sandra Izbasa) and balance beam (Catalina Ponor, Diana Bulimar), both scheduled on Tuesday. Also on Sunday, Romania’s Flavius Koczi finished the men’s floor event on 7th place. He will take part in the vault event on Monday.
