Rowing: Romania wins 7 medals at WRJC in Plovdiv

On Saturday and Sunday, Romanian athletes won 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Agerpres informs.On Sunday, Romania’s M2- boat (Neculai Aniculesei, Dumitru Mariuc) won gold with a time of 6 minutes and 47.17 seconds. Romania’s W8+ boat (Gianina-Elena Beleaga, Elena Turta, Alina-Elena Pop, Iuliana Popa, Ana-Maria Boca, Giorgiana Cucu, Mihaela-Teodora Berindei, Denisa-Maria Albu, Georgiana Danciu) won gold too, with a time of 6 minutes and 34.98 seconds, followed by the American boat (+3 seconds). Romania’s W2 boat (Ionela-Livia Lehaci and Andreea Asoltanei) won silver with a time of 7 minutes and 23.47 seconds, finishing behind Lithuania (7 minutes and 18.80 seconds). Laura Oprea won the women’s skiff event with a time of 8 minutes and 4.25 seconds, finishing behind Germany’s Anna Beenken (7 minutes and 55.52 seconds) and South Africa’s Jenienne Curr. On Saturday, Romania’s W4 boat (Andreea-Mihaile Tataru, Maricela-Dorina Otea, Viviana-Iuliana Bejinaru, Ioana Vrinceanu) won gold, while the M4- boat (Pavel-Iulian Buiciac, Alexandru-Cosmin Macovei, Danut-Viorel Rusu, Cristian Ivascu) won silver and the M4 boat (Marian-Florian Enache, Nicu-Ionut Bocancea, Laurentiu-Marian Colceag, Florin-Aurelian Buznean) won bronze.
