500,000 EUR worth contract for guarding Bucharest – Ploiesti motorway

The motorway which links Bucharest to Ploiesti shall be patrolled non stop by cars equipped with GPS and by two security agents each. According to Realitatea.net, National Company for Roads and Motorways (CNADNR) is ready to pay to install a guarding team at each 20 km of the motorway. The guarding contract would cost EUR 500,000. Sun Motorway is also guarded but unsuccessfully. Thefts have taken place on A 2, in case of anti-blinding panels which separate the running lanes, and the protection net misses from large segments, this net being designated to prevent animals from walking on the asphalt. The guarding company receives EUR 3 M from the Romanian state over 2010 – 2012. The Accounts Court has recently informed that they identified several irregularities in the guarding contracts addressing motorways concluded by CNADNR. The prejudice is estimated to nearly RON 6 M.
