Golden Carpathian Film Festival kicks off today

130 guests from 20 countries on four continents invited.

The Golden Carpathian Film Festival opens today the second edition in Ploiesti, Romania. The festival is organized by the Association for European Cultural Integration, Ploiesti Municipality with the support of the Romanian National Centre for Cinematography, Golden Carpathian Film&Fair (PEFF), and it wants to be a bridge between companies from Eastern Europe and Asia, according to a press release…
Over the four days will be screened nine movies that will be in the official competition for the Grand Prize (EUR 5000) and for the other three Awards (EUR 2500 each). The official competition is dedicated to first and second film.
This year there will be 130 guests from 20 countries from four continents, Hotnews.ro informs. A competition in which 17 cinema projects from 20 countries will be presented to the participating production companies will be part of the fair. The jury of the second edition of the Golden Carpathian Film Fair consists of cinema representatives from Hun­gary – director Adam Cselleng, jury chairman, Al­bania – producer Altin Prifti, and Azer­baijan – producer Ayoube Daneshvar.
Romania is on the border between Europe and Asia and wants to create a strong link bet­ween companies located in this area Therefore, Golden Carpathian will be a Competitive Film Festival and a New European film market, the first film market held in Romania. The Golden Carpathian aims to bring together as many production and distribution companies and to develop cooperation between them. Therefore there will be or­ganized conferences and workshops, parties specially meant to support the filmmakers and producers.
The 2012 Golden Carpathian Market prepared a 10 000 Euro Award for the best project submitted in a special Pitching Session. The jury for the Pitching Session will be formed by film industry professionals. The market is open for film business representatives from Central and East Europe plus Middle East and Middle Asia countries. The purpose of the event is not only buy and sell content but also to understand specific market demands and trends, understand what the competition is up to, and forge alliances, distribution partnerships, co-production deals and industry friendships.
