Silviu Purcarete wins “Herald Angel” Award for “Gulliver’s Travels”

Romanian theater director Silviu Purcarete was awarded the “Herald Angel” Award in Edinburgh, Scotland, for his production of “Gulliver’s Travels”. Mediafax quoted the “Radu Stanca” National Theater in Sibiu as saying that, while he wasn’t able to attend the award ceremony, being involved in other project, he nonetheless relayed a thank-you message via Cristopher Wynn, Sponsorship and Development Director Edinburgh Festival. “It is an honor and a pleasure to receive this award. Thank you!” the director said. According to the quoted source, the five performances of “Gulliver’s Travels” were performed during the Edinburgh International Festival, at King’s Theatre, August 17 – 20 august, and also marked the world premiere of this production. The “Radu Stanca” National Theater in Sibiu was invited on tour to Israel and Germany with the Silviu Purcarete-directed “Gulliver’s Travels” production.
