Less money for MPs travels

The Senators and Deputies will travel less in the parliament season beginning next week. Upon the budget review, the government cut almost RON 1 M from the chambers’ budget for travelling abroad. The most ‘damaged’ are the MPs in the lower chamber, as they lost one third of the initial allocation. The reduction for the Senate was by only 12 per cent.  But that was not the only cut operated. The hospitality budget was reduced by a total of RON 900,000, Realitatea TV informs. Important amounts were also taken away from the, postage, internet, radio and TV budget of the Parliament – almost 30 per cent compared to the original earmarking. In addition, the allocation made at the beginning of the year to the Senate for the procurement of vehicles and furniture – RON 320,000 – has completely disappeared. Even if winter is coming, the funds for heat and electricity have also diminished by 4.3 per cent for the Chamber of Deputies and 35 per cent for the Senate.
