One dead, 40 injured in crash involving Romanian tourists in France

A motor coach that had Romanian citizens onboard overturned yesterday morning on a highway in southeastern France, the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs. The motor coach belonged to a Bistrita-based company and was rented to a Suceava-based company.
The motor coach was traveling from Madrid to Romania. According to the information the MAE obtained yesterday, one person died (the age was not specified), 4 people were seriously injured and 27 were lightly injured.
France’s National Operational Centre informed that the injured persons were medevaced to regional hospitals in Nice, Marseille and Toulon. Yesterday afternoon Premier Victor Ponta convened a crisis cell consisting of the Interior Minister, the Foreign Minister, the Health Minister and secretary of state Raed Arafat and asked central and local authorities to urgently mobilize and to get involved in solving the situation. According to Colonel Frederic Marchi-Leccia, the motor coach had 40 Romanian citizens onboard. Nine helicopters, 30 ambulances and 120 extrication operators were mobilized, money.ro informs.
