WC 2014: Preparations for games against Estonia and Andorra

Romania’s national football team met in order to start training for its games against Estonia (September 7, 9 PM, Estonia) and Andorra (September 11, 8.30 PM, Bucharest) in the World Cup 2014 qualifiers. The players summoned by coach Victor Piturca are mostly young players from League I. Romanian international Adrian Mutu is absent once again. Mutu recently signed a contract with France’s Ajaccio.
Thus, Raul Rusescu and Adrian Popa (both from Steaua Bucharest) were summoned for the first time at the national team, Adrian Salageanu (FC Vaslui) for the second time, Caludiu Voiculet (Pandurii Targu Jiu) and Alexandru Matel (Astra) for the third time.
The extended line-up consists of 23 players: goalkeepers Bogdan Lobont (AS Roma), Costel Pantilimon (Manchester City) and Ciprian Tatarusanu (Steaua Bucharest), fullbacks Alexandru Matel (Astra Giurgiu), Srgian Luchin (Dinamo Bucharest), Dorin Goian (Spezia Calcio), Marius Valerica Gaman (Astra Giurgiu), Vlad Chiriches (Steaua Bucharest), Dragos Grigore (Dinamo), Razvan Rat (Shakhtar Donetsk) and Adrian Salageanu (FC Vaslui), midfielders Gabriel Torje (Granada CF), Adrian Popa (Steaua Bucharest), Alexandru Bourceanu (Steaua Bucharest), Costin Lazar (PAOK Thessaloniki), Mihai Pintilii (Steaua Bucharest), Claudiu Voiculet (Pandurii Targu Jiu), Alexandru Maxim (Pandurii Targu Jiu) and Cristian Tanase (Steaua Bucharest), strikers Raul Rusescu (Steaua Bucharest), Ciprian Marica (FC Schalke 04), Marius Niculae (FC Vaslui) and Gheorghe Grozav (FC Petrolul Ploiesti). Most players are from Steaua Bucharest (7).
