The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) yesterday celebrated ten years since its foundation, according to a press release. The speakers at the event included Radu Merica, President AHK Romania, Andreas von Mettenheim, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Romania, Anne Ruth Herkes, e State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology and Volker Treier, Deputy General Director of the Union of Chambers of Commerce in Germany (DIHK). The celebratory event was a good opportunity to look at the progress made by bilateral relations between Romania and Germany. During the past 10 years, Romania affirmed itself as an important economic partner for Germany, both with respect to investments and a commercial partner. AHK Romania began operating in 2002, with 200 members and 12 employees. Today, AHK has over 500 members, companies in Romania and Germany, the number of employees increased to 14, becoming one of the largest bilateral Chambers of Commerce in Romania. AHK offers support not just to the German companies that crack the Romanian market, but equally so as a partner for the Romanian companies willing to enter the German market.
