Arad-Timisoara highway already has problems

Inaugurated in December 2011 by former PM Emil Boc, the Arad-Timisoara Highway already has quality problems. On some sections the speed limit has been halved, informs. Construction deficiencies caused by the haste with which construction works were done have surfaced in recent days. “It’s a victory for ‘Yes, we can!’” Premier Emil Boc was triumphantly stating last year. According to police officers, in the affected sections the asphalt has been deformed by heavy traffic and the bridges have problems. In the following days similar speed limits will be placed on other points throughout the length of the highway, depending on where the teams of workers move. Mircea Pop, general manager of CNADNR, states that the constructor is to blame. As if this was any relief for the tax-payers, he states that the cost of the repair works will be covered by the constructors. The repair works will be finished in a week’s time at most and the highway will be completed in December at the latest. From then on the two-year warranty comes into force.
