MP Silviu Prigoana filed his resignation from the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL) yesterday, Mediafax informs. Prigoana said that starting on September 10 he will remain an independent MP. The resignation, currently filed at the Lower Chamber’s Permanent Bureau, will be presented to the Lower Chamber’s plenum. Prigoana was PDL’s candidate for the Bucharest City Hall in this year’s local elections. Mircea Toader, the leader of PDL MPs within the Lower Chamber, stated yesterday that Prigoana’s resignation is his “personal gesture,” which he did not communicate to the PDL leadership, and pointed out that any departure is a loss but this is not very important coming at the end of the parliament’s sitting.
