Organ grinders from Germany, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Chile, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania met at the 8th edition of the International Mechanical Music Festival that takes place in Iasi every two years. The project, financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund – Cultural Projects, has the theme “Mechanical music – solidarity between generations,” a theme proposed against the backdrop of the European Year for Active Aging and Solidarity between Generations. Vasile Cocolos, producer of street organs and organ grinder, was the only Romanian that took part in the event. In parallel, the public had the possibility of visiting an extremely interesting exhibition of mechanical instruments, jewelry and textile accessories from the collection of Dumitru Grumazescu, the tireless antiquarian from the Lapusneanu Street.
