ARD stays registered as electoral alliance for parliamentary elections

The Fair Romania Alliance (ARD) remains registered as an electoral alliance for the parliamentary elections in December after the Supreme Court rejected yesterday both the claim of the Fair Romania Association for the cancellation of the decision made by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) of registering the alliance and the complaint filed by PNTCD representatives Mihai Grigoriu and Radu Rizescu for the same thing. Lawyer Gheorghe Piperea who asked for the cancellation of BEC’s decision to register ARD for the parliamentary election said the court’s decision to allow the electoral alliance to keep that name was ‘a household decision, not to call it a political decision’. He also said that, during the court date on Wednesday, he raised ‘an issue of validity of the ARD constitutive protocol which was signed by Blaga for PDL and by Ungureanu for the Civic Force, elected as presidents by the respective congresses of the two parties but who are not yet recorded in the registers of political parties.’
