Danube bridge 2 to be completed by end-2012

Bulgarian Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski announced Wednesday during a construction forum that the Danube Bridge 2 Project (Vidin-Calafat) would be finalized by end-2012, according to He added that the adjacent infrastructure was almost ready and the bridge could be fully assembled by end-October or November. Moskovski, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), said that in a mid-term plan, several options were expected to come up for granting under concession the Danube ports of Tutrakan, Nikopol, Vidin South, Ruse West, and Ruse East. He explained that Port Burgas West was at a preparatory stage and Port Varna was at an exploratory stage. Bulgaria’s Transport Minister announced that the entire Plovdiv Airport would be offered on concession, not only the cargo terminal.
