Almost 200 photographs will be available to the public until October 7, as part of an exhibition named ‘China, closer,’ inaugurated on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the proclaiming of the People’s Republic of China.

Organised under the patronage of the Chamber of Deputies, the exhibition ‘China, closer’ presents in almost 200 photographs the political, economic, and cultural achievements of the Chinese people. The exhibition will stay open until October 7, and access is included in the tickets for visiting the Palace of the Parliament. The varnishing event, organised Wednesday, was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Bucharest, Huo Yuzhen, and the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea. The ambassador evoked the long tradition of friendship between Romania and China, which continues today by intensifying the exchanges and ties between the two countries, especially at the level of human values.“I sincerely hope that this photograph exhibition will become a mirror, a platform and a bridge for knowing China, that it will provide the distinguished Romanian deputies and a large number of Romanian citizens the opportunity to see, understand and experience China, through its images,” H.E. Huo Yuzhen stated. According to the diplomat, the photographs on display represent the successes of China in building the country and China’s efforts aimed at a sustainable development. “At the same time, they depict the latest scientific and technical innovations of China, and the various actions we organised in order to move forward and make known the Chinese civilisation; they also show the international support provided by China and the foreign exchanges which we conducted in many fields of activity. I am convinced that each of you will know to see the unique charm of the Chinese society, enjoy the vast cultural wealth of China and experience the vigour and vitality of rapid development in today’s China,” H.E. Huo Yuzhen added. In his turn, Chamber of Deputies speaker Valeriu Zgonea said that “Romania is interested today by intensifying the cooperation with the People Republic of China in large-scale projects of infrastructure, sustainable development, environment, tourism or regional development.”“We celebrate today an important partner and an old friend of Romania. Our satisfaction is that we celebrate not just 63 years since the proclaiming of the People’s Republic of China, but also 63 years since the establishing of links between our countries. Expanding the partnership with the P.R. of China is a goal for Romania,” Valeriu Zgonea said at the varnishing event. He also emphasised the excellent bilateral cooperation, not just in politics, but also at sectoral level between Romania and China, which increased at the level of a large-scale partnership. It is expressed by the more than 100 annual exchanges of delegations, which secure an excellent cooperation between Bucharest and Beijing, the economic, scientific and cultural ties between the two countries and peoples. The speaker of the Chamber of Deputies added that the friendship between China and Romania is also emphasised by the mutual support provided within international organisations and forums, such as the Forum China-Central and Eastern Europe, the strategic partnership European Union-China, or the UN.
