CSAT convenes today

Premier Victor Ponta will take part  in the Supreme Defence Council (CSAT) meeting convened by President Traian Basescu, this being the first time the Premier and President meet after the impeachment referendum, Mediafax informs. The CSAT meeting was convened by President Traian Basescu in order to discuss the purchase of fighter jets.Defence Minister Corneliu Dobritoiu announced on Sunday, on B1TV, that the purchase of F-16 multirole fighters from Portugal will be done based on a priorly-established plan that respects EU directives. On July 30, after the impeachment referendum, Premier Victor Ponta stated that he will do everything possible not to interact with Traian Basescu if the latter returns to office and that he will no longer take part in CSAT meetings, adding that Basescu can send him any important documents that need to be signed. PDL First Vice President Cristian Preda stated on Tuesday that the CSAT meeting scheduled on Thursday, the first after President Traian Basescu returned to office, will be an important test for cohabitation and the presence of Premier Victor Ponta is not ruled out.
