BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu tops most trusted list.
Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu exceeded both National Liberal Party (PNL) leader Crin Antonescu and Premier Victor Ponta in the trust department, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Institute of Marketing and Polls (IMAS) for „Adevarul“ newspaper.National Bank of Romania (BNR) Governor Mugur Isarescu tops the list of personalities Romanians trust the most, according to IMAS data collected during Sept 6-16. A proportion of 35.8 pc of the interviewees said they trust Mugur Isarescu even if the top ranker is down from 41.2 pc in August, or 40.8 pc last July. Mayor Sorin Oprescu coming second at 34.7 pc is the poll’s surprise finding, most likely due to his non-involvement in the political scandals lately, ahead of PM Victor Ponta, 31,7 pc, whose trust rate fell 3 pc from last month. The prime minister reached his popularity peak in June, 45.8 pc, yet kept sliding down since the launch of suspension proceedings against Traian Basescu.The political scandal of late also damaged the image of PNL President Crin Antonescu, who ranks behind Ponta, at 27,1 pc, down from 33.1 pc last month.Former premier Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, who is trusted by 20 pc of respondents, comes next, who is also on a popularity decline, according to the IMAS poll. The leader of the People’s Party Dan Diaconescu (PPDD) was rated at 17.5 pc in the Sept 6-16 IMAS poll, before the Oltchim scandal erupted.
