Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescutold the Chamber of Deputies Industry Commission that the City hall no longer could cope with subsidies and asked for list from the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) of Bucharesters’ incomes, so that those earning in excess of RON 2,500 per household to pay RON 328 for a gigacalorie. “I cannot possibly subsidize anymore, and there are many poor people who lack money. It’s been four years since I asked for a revenues list from ANAF and if they exceed RON 2,500 per household, then, they will pay RON 328, which is the current price of the gigacalorie in Bucharest. Why? So I can broaden the range of those who lack the money. This is not politically-minded, but about caring for people,” HotNews quoted Oprescu as saying. We remind our readers that, on Sept 13, the Bucharest mayor said the gigacalorie price would stay at last year’s level despite an estimate price rise of nearly 5 pc on account of more expensive gas rates. Oprescu also said at the time that the City Hall would fill the gap between the current price of the gigacalorie, RON 328, and the RON 170 household consumers pay for it.
