Sorana Cirstea fails to qualify for lat-16 stage in Beijing

Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea (29th in WTA rankings) failed to qualify for the last-16 stage of the tournament in Beijing, a tournament with total prizes of USD 4.8 M, after being defeated by Maria Sharapova, score 6-2, 6-2. The game lasted for one hour and 18 minutes, the tournament’s official website informs. Sharapova had defeated Romania’s Simona Halep in the opening round. For her results Sorana Cirstea will receive 80 WTA points and a check for USD 21,815.
