Ungureanu, in Brussels for talks with EPP leaders

The president of the Civic Force (FC), Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, met with Wilfried Martens, president of the European People’s Party (EPP) and EPP General Secretary Antonio Lopez -Isturiz in Brussels yesterday. According to FC press release, the meeting with the EPP officials are part of Ungureanu’s efforts to develop ties with the European right and to get the party to join the EPP. “The Civic Force is a long-lasting project and starting a dialogue based on principles shared with other center-right parties in Europe shows our long term commitment to the European Union project,” Ungureanu said, according to the said source. Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu also sets out to approach the issue of the political conflict originated by the Social Liberal Union (USL) during the past couple of months and to assure the moderate right officials that there are some strong pro-European voices in Romania to oppose any action aimed at discrediting this country’s partnership relations, the release also states.
