Wealth owned by prosecutor general and DNA head candidates made public

The candidates to the position of General Prosecutor of Romania and Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) are also ‘vying’ for the richest contenders for those jobs. According to Lumeajustitiei.ro, almost all of the 11 candidate prosecutors are quite well-off, as they own in, out-lying, or farmland they either bought, inherited or acquired the concession rights. The best positioned land-owning wise are prosecutors Tiberiu Nitu, Gheorghe Cornescu and Viorica Stoica. In terms of revenues, some of the candidates earn over RON 100,000 a year, adding to which are roughly equal earnings from their life companions. Gheorghe Cornescu and his wife earn nearly 6,000 euro a month, and Romania’s former prosecutor general, Laura Codruta Kovesi, made 3.200 euro, or  nearly RON 15,000, a month.
