BCR to give out First House RON loans

The Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) got an additional RON 45 M for the First House Program, which will go as RON home loans to customers after relevant legislation will allow banks to complement and modify the financial offers, Mediafax reports. “The number of application has kept steady this year, so that the volume of submitted loan applications significantly exceeded the BCR funds available. (…) Our option to carry on giving First House Program RON loans follows the National Bank of Romania’s recommendations on encouraging RON loans and increasingly more numerous customer applications amid increasing awareness about the risks of taking a foreign currency loan,” Ioana Mihai, head of BCR’s Guaranteed Credits Department, said in a communique. Since the First House program began, the BCR has given out nearly 30,000 loans worth EUR 1.2 bln.
