Drought boosts inflation to 5 pc in 2012

The inflation rate is expected to go up to 5 per cent by the end of the year following the adverse effects of drought on food prices and there are also uncertainties about the final impact of the phenomenon on the gross domestic product, says the government report on the economic situation in 2012. The government estimates progress will be made before the end of the year in respect of reducing arrears of monitored companies to RON 9 bn from the RON 13 bn reported at the end of the first half.
