Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu is looking for investors willing to finance the construction of the highway. According to a communiqué issued by the Bucharest City Hall, the mayor met last week the representatives of China’s Shanghai Urban Construction Group (SUCG) International Engineering Co. Ltd., and those of Turkey’s Artimpeks LTD in order to present the project to them. The City Hall claims that both companies showed interest but nothing concrete was established. According to the City Hall’s estimates, the construction of the highway would cost EUR 1.57 bln. Early last month the Bucharest Mayor met the representatives of China Communication Constructions Company Limited in order to obtain financing for this project. The highway’s northern section will link Colentina Street and Morii Lake, having a length of 13 kilometers. The highway’s exact route is yet to be established because the urbanism plan is yet to be approved.
