Eight dead in Arad minibus crash

Eight people died in an accident at the exit from Lipova Arad Co., on DN 7 Deva-Arad-Romania-Hungary border, Saturday evening, according to Dorin Goilian, head of the Arad Traffic Police. Early investigations reveal that the driver of the minibus containing the eight passengers fell asleep at the wheel, the car crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into a truck. The powerful impact projected all of the minibus passengers out of the minivan, with seven of them dying right away. Two more people were severely injured, one of them being taken by helicopter to the Timisoara University Hospital where he died Saturday night into Sunday. The police head also said the minibus had Italian registration plates and all of the passengers were workers from the Arad County, commune of Chesind, 25 km away from the Arad municipality.
