Deputy Monica Iacob Ridzi, who recently resigned from PDL, yesterday joined the Hunedoara branch of the People’s Party Dan Diaconescu (PPDD) and will run for the Chamber of Deputies on behalf of this party, in the 5th Constituency of the Jiu Valley, where she was elected in the previous general elections. “The decision of Monica Iacob Ridzi to run for Parliament in the Jiu Valley, the place where she has her domicile, demonstrates that we, PPDD, promote responsible people, with political expertise, who know the problems of the Jiu Valley. Our main purpose is to send local people (in Parliament),” the president of PPDD Hunedoara, Haralambie Vochitoiu said, quoted by Mediafax. Monica Iacob Ridzi, a former minister of Youth and Sports, was formally charged in court, on May 2011, along with 11 other defendants, with acts of corruption, in a case related to events dedicated to the National Day of Youth.
