UDMR is afraid it would lose three MP seats

Kelemen Hunor, president of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), yesterday admitted that the Union is likely to lose a maximum of three MP seats at the Dec 9 legislative election because of the Magyar Civic Party (PCM) and the Transylvanian Hungarian People’s Party (PPMT), with the seats to go not to the Magyar, but Romanian parties.  “No Magyar party other than the UDMR stands a change to enter Parliament. There is the danger of losing one, two, three seats at the worst, yet they will not go either to Tokes, or the PCM. Those preparing for the election want nothing but steal a few seats from us, yet not for them, but for Dan Diaconescu or other Romanian parties and to put us in a difficult position,” Kelemen say.
