Zgonea in Brussels to meet with Schulz and Reding

Chamber of Deputies Speaker Valeriu Zgonea today will be on an official visit to Brussels in order to invite the president of the European Parliament to give a speech before Romania’s Parliament sometime around October 30-31. On the eve of his departure, Zgonea pointed out that it was Prime Minister Victor Ponta who launched the invitation to EP President Martin Schulz. According to a Lower House press release, Zgonea’s visit has a dual scope: to maintain and consolidate cooperation between the Romanian and the European Parliament and to inform the EP about the progress made by Romania with respect to the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification. The Chamber of Deputies speaker is scheduled to have a meeting with the European Commissioner for Justice Viviane Reding as well.
