The leader of the Liberal group in the European Parliament (EP), Guy Verhofstadt launched his book ‘The Financial Crisis’ in the Amphitheater Hall of the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA) in Bucharest, during an event attended by former PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu. Although the event should have also enjoyed the presence of PNL president Crin Antonescu, the head of the Liberal delegation in the EP, Norica Nicolai, and the Minister of Economy, Daniel Chitoiu, they eventually did not attend.Yesterday evening, the Liberals had scheduled a press conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, following the debate on the Romanian judiciary system. The conference should have been attended by Norica Nicolai and the British Liberal MEP Sarah Ludford. Also last evening, Guy Verhofstadt and Crin Antonescu were expected to make press statements following the debate organised in the group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) on the political situation of Romania.Today, around noon, is scheduled a press conference that will present the conclusions of the LDE meeting, attended by Crin Antonescu and the Liberal MEPs. Starting 2.00 PM, a debate will start about “Access to financing. The driver of increasing SME’s competitiveness,” attended by Guy Verhofstadt, MEP and president of the LDE group, Daniel Chitoiu, the Minister of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment, and PNL MEP Cristian Busoi. Also speaking during the event will be Mihai Voicu – delegate Minister for the Business Environment, Julien Guerrier – of the European Commission, Jurgen Creutzmann – ALDE MEP, and Ovidiu Nicolescu – president of the Romanian Council of Private SMEs.The ALDE delegation that visits Bucharest these days has accommodated at the Crowne Plaza, with PNL MEP Norica Nicolai as guide through the Romanian capital. According to Mediafax, the ALDE guests did not request special protection from Romanian institutions or companies.
