The number of Dacia automobiles registered last year in Switzerland reached 6,205 and exceeded 4,000 in the first nine months of 2012, enough to secure a market share of almost 2 pc to the automaker controlled by French group Renault, according to Le Temps newspaper, quoted by Mediafax. More precisely, Dacia has a 1.9 pc market share in Switzerland, compared to 10.5 pc in the case of market leader Volkswagen or 5-6 pc for mother group Renault. Yet, Dacia outscores Seat (market share 1.8 pc), Mitsubishi (1.7 pc), Porsche (0.7 pc) or Alfa Romeo (0.7 pc). The brand seems to enjoy surprising success on a rather exigent market, but this is not the only case of the kind, said the chief of SwissAuto, Andreas Burgener. As of this year, Dacia also has a family model – Lodgy – which however has little chance to dethrone the Duster. The SUV generates 44 pc of Dacia sales, Le Temps reports.
