Vystoupil Heinrich, officially appointed as new Tarom CEO

Austrian executive Heinrich Vystoupil, former general manager for Romania & Moldova of Austrian Airlines, was yesterday officially appointed the new executive chief officer of Romanian state-owned airline Tarom, according to the decision reached at the first session of the new “private” Board of Directors of Tarom, reported zf.ro. Dan Pascariu, Chairman of the Oversight Council of UniCredit Tiriac Romania, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tarom. Valentin Macec, an advisor to Transport Minister Ovidiu Silaghi, is the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors. Since mid-2010, Mr. Macec has been general manager of PhonoSolar China, a solar power company. Until the new CEO contract is signed, Sorin Georgescu, the current Tarom CEO, will continue performing his duties. Tarom is the first Romanian state company to have a private management, at the demand from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The Romanian national airline, which last year posted a turnover of 220 M euro, has piled losses worth 181 M euro
