Dragnea to run for Lower Chamber seat, Ciorbea to run against Paleologu

PSD President Victor Ponta confirmed yesterday that PSD Secretary General Liviu Dragnea informed him that he would like to run for a Lower Chamber seat in the general elections. “When the list comes from Teleorman I will confirm the information,” Ponta answered when asked whether Dragnea will run in the general elections. Dragnea’s candidacy was still uncertain last week when Dragnea stated that he will take a decision in the following days. Ponta stated that the PSD Secretary General “can be in Parliament too and can be a good minister just like he is a good county council president.” On the other hand, Victor Ponta announced after USL’s meeting that was also attended by Crin Antonescu, Daniel Constantin, Gabriel Oprea and Victor Ciorbea that USL will file by Friday all the candidacy files in all 41 counties and Bucharest so that there would be time for any appeals to be analyzed or for possible replacements to be made. PNL President Crin Antonescu announced yesterday that former premier Victor Ciorbea will run in the general elections in Bucharest’s District 2, Electoral College 9, on behalf of PNL. Teodor Paleologu (PDL) currently represents that college within the Lower Chamber.
